Hello guarded ones!

Please don’t let the title of this daily word of encouragement keep you from reading.  Jesus is very clear, for our sakes, to BEWARE OF COVETEOUSNESS!

Let’s take a look at Luke 12:15.  It declares,

  •  And He said to them, “Take heed and beware of all covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.”

Our life is so valuable to God!  We were created in His exact image and likeness.  Why would we ever value our lives, that Jesus paid a horific price for, based on our positions in life or our possessions?

Revelation 18:17 decrees,

  • For in one hour such great riches came to nothing.

I want you to know that I believe in the Lord’s prosperity, because Deuteronomy 8:18 says,

  • And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is HE Who gives you power to get wealth…

BUT, look at what the prosperity is for:

  • …that He may establish His covenant…

It’s not necessarily money that’s evil, because 1 Timothy 6:10 states,

  • For the LOVE of money is the root of all evil…

What the Lord Jesus is interested in is your heart!  What do you value?  What takes up your time?  What do you put your energy into?  Are they kingdom things?  Do they bring glory to God?  Do they bless others?

In Matthew 6:19-21 Jesus says,

  • Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Whew!  Jesus means what He says and says what He means.

Let’s conclude by reading Psalm 49:16-18:

  • Do not be afraid when one becomes rich, when the glory of his house is increased; For when he dies he shall carry nothing away; His glory shall not descend after him. Though while he lives he blesses himself (For men will praise you when you do well for yourself)…

Jesus said in Matthew 9:29,

  • According to your faith, be it into you!

So, don’t fear, become despondent or be discouraged, because God Who had led you thus far will also carry you where you never imagined you could go.  He has called you out to move upon you so you could speak His words of truth, have His mind and know His will.

Be blessed today as you continue to grow in Him,

Your sister in Christ,

Lisa Gordon
