Good morning family!  How are you today?  I would like to take a few moments and edify, exhort and encourage you about THE BODY OF CHRIST.   Let’s take a look at 1 Corinthians 12:14.  It says,

  • For the body does not consist of just one member, but of many.

Look at our amazing bodies.  Psalm 139:14 says,

  • I will praise You for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

In verses 15-17 of 1 Corinthians, we read:

  • If the foot says, ‘Since I am not the hand I am not of the body’, is it therefore not of the body?  And if the ear says, ‘Because I am not an eye, I am not of the body’, is is therefore not of the body?  If the eye was the whole body, where would the hearing be?  And if the ear was the whole body, where would the scent of smell be?

That would be wierd to see a big eye walking down the street, wouldn’t it?  Well, if that’s true, then why is it any different to say, “Because I am not the teacher, I am not important?”

See, we all have our places in the Body of Christ.   A good way to help you find out what part of the Body of Christ you are, look for the things that come naturally to you.  Don’t try to be something you’re not.  If it’s easy for you to be hospitable, then you have that gift from God ~ You will find this one in Romans 12.  Verses 6 and 13 says,

  • Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them…distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality.

It’s not that we shouldn’t all be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another, but some people really excel in this one!

See, 1 Corinthians 12:20 says,

  • There are many members, but just one Body.

We are THE BODY OF CHRIST.  We are one Spirit with the Lord (1 Corinthians 6:17).  According to Galatians 2:20

  • We have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer we who live, but Christ lives in us; and the life which we now live in the flesh, we live by faith in the Son of God, who loved us and gave Himself up for us.

We’re united with Jesus just like a husband is united to his wife in marriage.  The Apostle Paul explains it this way in Ephesians 5:30-32,

  • We are members of his body, of His flesh, and of His bones.  For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother and shall be joined unto his wife, and the two shall be one flesh.  This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

This means when you walk and speak, He walks and speaks through you.  When you minister to the sick, Jesus is ministering to them by His Spirit.  When you command a disease to leave a person’s body, it must obey you in exactly the same way it would obey Jesus if He was here – because He is here.  He lives in you! YOU are His Body – His hands, His feet, His mouthpiece.

1 Corinthians 12:27 says,

  • You are THE BODY OF CHRIST, and members individually.

God has placed you in THE BODY OF CHRIST.  Verse 24 says,

  • And even though the beautiful and elegant members of the body are the only ones seeming to have no deficiency, God has actually blended together the body parts in such a way that it is the seemingly deficient members which have been made to have more exceeding value, so that there may be no schism in the Body, but all the body members will care for one another in the same way.

Your value to God is beyond human comprehension.  Psalm 139:17-18 says,

  • How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!  How great is the sum of them!  If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; when I awake, I am still with You.

David was so overwhelmed with His value to His God, he said in Psalm 8:4-8,

  • What is man that You are mindful of Him, and the son of man that You visit him?  For You have made him a little lower than Elohim (God), and You have crowned him with glory and honor.  You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet, all sheep and oxen – even the beasts of the air, and the fish of the sea that pass through the paths of the seas.

YOU ARE HIS BODY!  YOU ARE PRECIOUS AND YOU ARE SO VALUABLE!

Walking in Him,

Lisa Gordon
