Good morning just ones!
I love the word, “JUSTICE“. Psalm 37:28 says,
- For the LORD loves JUSTICE, and does not forsake His sants; they are preserved forever…
Wow, family, THE LORD LOVES JUSTICE! “So, just what exactly does this mean?,” you may be asking.
JUSTICE is a term used for what is right or “as it should be”. JUSTICE is just one of God’s attributes that flows out of His holiness.
JUSTICE and RIGHTEOUSNESS are often used synonymously in the Bible. Since, RIGHTEOUSNESS is the quality or character of being right or just, it is another attribute of God and incorporates both His JUSTICE and His HOLINESS.
See, we can’t begin to understand God’s JUSTICE unless we first understand sin. Sin is lawlessness (1 John 3:4) and iniquity (Daniel 9:4-5). It is everything contrary to God’s holy nature and is offensive to Him.
Sin is a crime against God and JUSTICE demands a penalty of death and separation from Him for it (Romans 1:18-32). Praise God for Jesus, Who was sent to the earth to pay that penalty for us! Our Father made salvation available to all who believe in His Name (John 1:12).
God’s mercy and grace are not in spite of His JUSTICE, but because of it. He demonstrated that His JUSTICE was not violated, but rather satisfied.
Do you remember the parable that Jesus told us in Luke 18 about the importune widow who came to the judge and demanded, “JUSTICE” from her adversary? The Scripture says he was an un-JUST judge who neither feared God nor regarded man. For a long time, he wouldn’t help her, but because of her insistence for JUSTICE, he finally avenged her, lest by her continual coming she weary him.
Jesus says in verses 6-8,
- Hear what the un-JUST judge said: And shall not God avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? I tell you that He will avenge them speedily…
Because we are made in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:26-27), we long for JUSTICE upon the earth. Why do people seek JUSTICE for crimes? It’s in our DNA.
If you read the book of Revelation, you will see the JUSTICE of God in all its glory during the end times (the times we’re now living in). When we watch the destruction of the earth, our song will be of God’s righteous judgment upon the people of the earth for their ultimate sin of rejecting Him.
2 Peter 3:13 says we are promised that some day, when Christ Jesus physically reigns on this earth, God’s righteous JUSTICE will finally be carried out.
Remember that in Isaiah 61:8 it says,
- For I, the LORD, love JUSTICE.
If we read through the whole chapter, we can see just what God’s JUSTICE looks like towards us!
Walking in God’s JUSTICE today,
