Good morning beloved!
Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:19-21,
- Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
My question to us today is: “WHAT DO WE VALUE? What takes up our time? What do we put our energy into? Are they kingdom minded? Do they bring glory to God? Does it bless others?”
Do you remember the parable Jesus tells us about the certain rich man who yielded plentifully in Luke 12:16-21? It says,
- Then he told them a story: “A rich man had a fertile farm that produced fine crops. He said to himself, ‘What should I do? I don’t have room for all my crops.’ Then he said, ‘I know! I’ll tear down my barns and build bigger ones. Then I’ll have room enough to store all my wheat and other goods. And I’ll sit back and say to myself, “My friend, you have enough stored away for years to come. Now take it easy! Eat, drink, and be merry!”’ “But God said to him, ‘You fool! You will die this very night. Then who will get everything you worked for?’ “Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God.”
It’s so important that as believers we don’t become egotistical and unbelieving. Greed is something a lot of Americans have a problem with. They are told that what they want to do is work and work for the “American Dream.” The problem is, Jesus said in Matthew 6:24,
- No one can serve TWO masters; for either they will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You CANNOT serve God and mammon.
Let’s choose what’s eternal ~ GOD HIMSELF! I always confess, “Lord, YOU are my life and the length of my days. And, in YOU I live and move and have my being.”
Let’s adhere to Deuteronomy 6:4,
- You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.
This means, breathing after, longing after and desiring GOD and HIS WORD. 2 Corinthians 4:18 says,
- While we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
Let’s VALUE THE WORD OF GOD and make it our final authority!
