Good morning glorious ones in whom is all God’s delight!
SPIRITUAL AUTHORITY means having the right to make use of God’s power to enforce spiritual law, which is literally the WORD OF GOD. We have a responsibility to walk in this authority. We don’t want to let religion trick us into thinking that we are not an integral part of the promises that are in the Word. Absolving ourselves from the responsibility actually takes us out of the equation . Then God’s Word, which operates by faith, won’t materialize in our lives. God’s spiritual laws are just as real as physical laws. They are consistent and they don’t fluctuate.
It is always God’s will that we use the authority He’s given us and the Scriptures tells us how. First, the Scripture says in 2 Peter 3:9 (NKJV),
- The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward you, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
In regards to God’s will for our lives, it’s important that we remember that God is not inconsistent, blessing some people but not other people. His Word works the same every time. The reason good things don’t come to pass in our lives isn’t because they’re not His will, but because we don’t use the authority He’s given us.
Secondly, we must submit ourselves to God and resist the devil. James 4:7 (AMPC) says,
- So be subject to God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him], and he will flee from you.
We must stand firm against him by submitting ourselves to God. This is what causes him to flee. One translation says, “He runs in stark terror.”
Thirdly, we must remember that our tongue controls our whole body. If we can tame our tongues and learn to control what we say, we can be perfect. This is what James 3:2 tells us. It says,
- For we all often stumble and fall and offend in many things. And if anyone does not offend in speech [never says the wrong things], he is a fully developed character and a perfect man, able to control his whole body and to curb his entire nature.
Actually, our speech is one example of how we’ve been given authority. When problems occur, we can talk to the situation and take control of it. This is what Jesus teaches us to do in Mark 11.
Forth, God tells us that we have the authority to command the works of His hands. Isaiah 45:11 states,
- …And concerning the work of My hands, you command Me.
This word, “command” from the Strong’s Condordance means to appoint, to assign, and to commission. God is asking us to release Him to command, appoint, or assign something to be done, according to His will, which is His Word. When we appoint Him to do something on our behalf, the manifestation of power by the hand of God will bring blessing on us and judgment on our adversary.
The works of God’s hands include healing, deliverance, prosperity, wholeness, and anything else we find in His Word. They are all the finished works of Jesus. When we have faith in God’s Word to fulfill His promises in our lives, our actions will reflect our beliefs.
