Good morning family!
Many Christians have been defeated in life because they believe and confess the wrong things! It’s so important that we understand how important the WORDS of our mouths are. Proverbs 18:21 says,
- Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.
We’ve been given access to the power of God through our WORDS, which are weapons against the enemy. When Jesus was fasting in the wilderness for forty days and nights, the tempter came to Him and said (Matthew 4:2-3),
- “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”
Now look at Jesus’ response in verse 4,
- But Jesus answered and said, “IT IS WRITTEN, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every WORD that proceeds from the mouth of God.'”
Satan is applying pressure to get us to say things we shouldn’t be saying ~ things that are in opposition to what the Word of God says. In the same way that we’ll reap life from speaking the right words, we’ll also reap death from speaking the wrong words. Remember that Jesus is the Apostle and High Priest of our confession (see Hebrews 3:1). I exhort you to not allow hard times to defeat you and change your confession in God’s Word. When we use the Word of God as a weapon against the enemy, just like Jesus did, we will win every time.
Proverbs 6:2 declares,
- You are snared by the WORDS of your mouth; You are taken (captive) by the WORDS of your mouth.
Satan tries to get us to think in opposition to the Word of God through secular entertainment (movies, TV, music, etc.). He wants us to believe and confess the wrong things so that we can be defeated by our own WORDS. To be free of this bondage, we must think, believe, and speak in line with the Word of God.
As Christians, the Word of God is our standard for living. How we think is based on the images and WORDS we’re exposed to. WORDS determine the way we think. Then, the way we think effects the way we feel, and the way we feel determines the decisions we make.
WORDS are the most powerful things in the universe! Just look at Genesis 1:1-3. It says,
- In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the water. Then God SAID, “Let there be light”; and there was light.
In the beginning, God spoke faith-filled WORDS and saw them come to pass. When Jesus walked the earth, He imitated His father by speaking things into existence. Likewise, we must be imitators of God, as dear children imitate their father (see Ephesians 5:1).
In Mark 11:22-23, Jesus teaches us that having this God-kind of faith is the type of faith that moves mountains. We must believe without doubting that whatever we SAY will come to pass. As you line your WORDS up with God’s WORDS, things will begin to change. Remember, all things are possible for those who believe (see Mark 9:23).
