Good morning family!
I want to remind you today that God made you in His image and likeness so that He could fellowship with you. This fellowship isn’t located in our bodies or minds – it’s achieved by God interacting with our spirits. John 4:24 (KJV) says,
- God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.
We are a spirit, we have a soul, and we live in a physical body. We are triune, just like God. 1 Thessalonians 5:23 (NKJV) says,
- Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We were created to be in the same class of being as God so that we can fellowship and work with Him. Genesis 1:26-27 (NKJV) says,
- Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in His Own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
I love how David says it from Psalm 8:4-8,
- What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him? For You have made him a little lower than Elohim (God) and You have crowned him with glory and honor. You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet, all sheep and oxen – even the beasts of the field, and birds of the air, and the fish of the sea that pass through the paths of the seas.
Because God’s Word is Truth, I exhort you to feed yourself spiritually so that your inner man (your spirit) and your knowledge and understanding of the spiritual realm grows. Romans 10:17 (NKJV) says,
- So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.
Let’s learn to worship God in our spirits because John 4:23 says,
- But the time is coming – indeed it’s here now – when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way.
God is seeking those whom He can bless. Our enemy, the devil, is seeking those whom he can devour (1 Peter 5:5). Deuteronomy 30:19 (NLT) says,
- Today, I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!
I encourage you to make a daily schedule to fellowship with God through His Word and prayer.
