Hello beautiful ones!
Matthew 12:35-37 says,
- A good man out of the good treasure of his heart SPEAKS forth (brings forth) GOOD THINGS, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. But I say to you that for every idle WORD men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your WORDS you will be justified, and by your WORDS you will be condemned.
According to Matthew 12:35, we are to only SPEAK GOOD THINGS, but the Scripture makes it clear that we can only SPEAK GOOD THINGS if our heart is good, for out of the superabundance of our hearts, our mouth speaks. That’s why Proverbs 4:20-24 says,
- My son, give attention to MY WORDS; incline your ear to MY SAYINGS; keep them in the midst of YOUR HEART; for they (God’s Word) are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh. Keep YOUR HEART with all diligence, for OUT OF IT (your heart) spring the issues of life.
See, because what proceeds out of your heart, comes out of your mouth!
Proverbs 23:7 says,
- For as a man thinks, IN HIS HEART so is he.
If Satan can get us to think a certain way, our life will follow it. What you think determines what’s in your heart. Why? Because the entrance into my heart is what I think. Then, what I see, hear, and speak will overwhelm my heart, both positive and negative. What’s in my heart becomes my life.
I declare every morning, in the Name of Jesus, by the power of the Holy Spirit, that I’ll not let any corrupt communication (word) ever proceed out of my mouth, but only what is good for necessary edification that is may impart grace to the hearers. If I miss it, I do what 1 John 1:9 says,
- If we confess our sins; He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Look at this amazing verse from Philippians 4:8 (MSG),
- Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious – the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse.
So, as we fill our minds with the Word of God, our hearts will begin to change, because Hebrews 4:12 says,
- The Word of God is living and powerful, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the THOUGHTS and intents of the heart.
Once our hearts begin to change, our WORDS will begin to change. Words are wonderful when they are used in a good way. They can encourage, edify, and give confidence to the hearer. Proverbs 15:23 says,
- A RIGHT WORD spoken at the right time can actually be life-changing.
The Scripture teaches us from Proverbs 18:21 (Amp),
- Death and life are in the power of the tongue…
Words are containers for power and we need to choose them carefully! According to James 3:7-8 (Amp), we cannot tame our tongue without the help of the Holy Spirit:
- For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and sea animal, can be tamed and has been tamed by human genius. But the human tongue can be tamed by no man. It is a restless (undisciplined, irreconcilable), evil, full of deadly poison.
Our quality of life cannot rise about our own confession.
I encourage you to say only what God says in His Word, to the best of your ability (your faith in God).
According to Hebrews 4:14, Jesus is the High Priest of our confession and this means He can only do what we’re saying that lines up with His Word.
Do you know how important it is to learn how to SPEAK GOOD THINGS, by speaking the Word of God, which is full of all GOOD THINGS?
I encourage you to say what God says – so speak His Word – not what our feelings, other people, or our circumstances are telling us. When we say what He wants us to say, we’re going to have what He wants us to have.
Know this: CHANGING THE WAY YOU SPEAK WILL CHANGE YOUR HEART. So, I exhort you to,
- Bless everything you can possibly bless
- Be thankful and say so
- Be an encourager
- Speak the Word of God
“Father, I thank You for helping my readers SPEAK GOOD THINGS. As they are quick to hear and slow to speak, you will heal relationships, restore lives, and help us to be overcomers in every area of our lives, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
SPEAKING GOOD THINGS,
