Good morning dear ones!

2 Timothy 1:12 (LEV) says,

  • Because of these things I am suffering, yet I am not ashamed.  For I KNOW Whom I have believed, and I have been PERSUADED that He is able and committed to GUARD ME unto that Day.

Did you know that you are being GUARDED BY GOD?

Picture a soldier, dressed in his fatigues ~ helmet, boots, camoflage ~ pointing his M-16 rifle at the enemy, saying, “You’re not getting in here, no matter what!”

Now, picture the God of the Universe doing that for you!!!  Do you think the enemy has a chance?  NO WAY!

1 Peter 1:5 says,

  • And through YOUR FATH, GOD IS GUARDING YOU by His power…

I suppose you’ve all heard the word, “SOZO“?  It’s they greek word for SALVATION!  God’s salvation is multi-faceted.  John 3:16-17 says,

  • 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be SAVED (“sozo-ed”).

The word, “Salvation” or “Sozo” means:  Saved, healed, delivered, preserved, PROTECTED, made whole, kept safe and sound.  It’s to our advantage to not only take 1 slice of the pie, if you will, and leave all the rest on the table.  Receive EVERYTHING the Lord Jesus Christ died to give you!

Protection (being guarded) is a part of God’s great plan of salvation.

Let’s take a look at a few more scriptures about BEING GUARDED BY GOD:

Proverbs 4:23 (ESV) says,

  • Above all else, GUARD YOUR HEART, for everything you do flows from it.

GOD will GUARD US, through our FAITH in Him (believing Him), but it’s also imperative that WE guard our hearts.

The New Living Translation of Proverbs 4:23 says,

  • GUARD YOUR HEART above all else, for it determines the course of your life.

Look at another way the scripture declares we are GUARDED BY GOD:

Philippians 4:6-7 (ESV) says,

  • Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.  And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will GUARD YOUR HEARTS and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Wow, so do WE actually have something to do with our hearts being guarded?  YES!!!

According to 1 Timothy 6:20, we’re to GUARD what’s been committed to us (God’s Word).

Also, in 1 Corinthians 16:13, we’re to:

  • Be on our GUARD; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.

The imperative command in this sentence is YOU! ~

  • YOU be on guard
  • YOU stand firm in the faith
  • YOU be courageous
  • YOU be strong

Then, the Lord will strengthen you, for when you are weak, then you’ll be made strong by God’s strength (See 2 Corinthians 12:9-10).

So, I encourage you to run the race that is set before you and run in such a way that you may win.

You may ask, “Win what?”  The prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Paul says in 2 Timothy 4:7,

  • I have fought the good fight; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith.

Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift! (2 Corinthians 9:15).

Guarded by God,

Lisa Gordon
