Good morning precious ones!
Did you know that our God is THE GOD OF ALL COMFORT? 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (Amp) says,
- Blessed [gratefully praised and adored] be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and THE GOD OF ALL COMFORT, Who COMFORTS and encourages us in every trouble so that we will be able to COMFORT and encourage those who are in any kind of trouble, with the COMFORT with which we ourselves are COMFORTED by God.
Isn’t that wonderful news? COMFORT is something we all need, living as Christians in this crooked and perverse generation (Philippians 2:15), so I believe that’s why the Jesus said in John 14:16,
- And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you ANOTHER COMFORTER, that He may abide with you forever…
Oftentimes, when people face hard things in life, they seek COMFORT by surrounding themselves with things that are familiar: a relationship, work, sports, a hobby, even COMFORT food. But those are only temporary and they can only bring temporary COMFORT.
True, lasting COMFORT is available, and it’s only found in a personal relationship with God, the Father, through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
COMFORT is defined as: To give strength and hope; to ease grief or trouble. No matter what difficulty you may be facing today, God wants to bring you COMFORT.
Just like a mother cares for her child, God longs to bring you COMFORT, strength, hope and confidence.
Isaiah 66:13 (NIV) says,
- As a mother comforts her child, so will I COMFORT you…
I encourage you to make the decision to put the Lord first place in every area of your life. Let go of those things you know are holding you back. Let Him be Lord over all! As you surrender to Him, you will be filled with His peace, joy and COMFORT. You’ll be empowered to overcome every temptation, test or trial.
Psalm 23:4 says,
- …Your rod and Your staff, they COMFORT me.
And guess what? 1 Thessalonians 5:11 says that WE are to COMFORT and edify one another.
When we go through difficulties in life and come out on top, we are able to encourage and COMFORT our brothers and sisters in Christ, exhorting them that you overcame and so can they.
Jesus tells us in Matthew 11:28-30,
- 28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
All we have to do is COME TO HIM. We don’t have to carry the weight of the world on our shoulders. He wants us to take His yoke (join ourselves to Him), and then we’ll find the rest and COMFORT we need.
Jesus said in John 14:27,
- 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
We are exhorted in John 16:33 with these words:
- 33 I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace. In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.” [I have deprived it of its power to harm you].
“Father, I thank You that You are our refuge and our fortress, our God, in Whom we can trust with great confidence and on Whom we rely. Because we dwell in Your shelter, we will remain secure and rest in Your shadow, whose power no enemy can withstand. You save us from pestilences and falling into a trap. You cover us and completely protect us. Your faithfulness is a shield and a wall of protection for us. Thank you for Your amazing COMFORT today, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
Living in His Comfort,
