Hello lovely one!
As I was praying this morning, the Lord directed me to the second chapter of the book of Joel. I’d like to read you verses 23-27. It says,
- Be glad then, you children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God; For He has given you the former rain faithfully, and He will cause the rain to come down for you—The former rain, and the latter rain in the first month. The threshing floors shall be full of wheat, and the vats shall OVERFLOW with new wine and oil. “So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the crawling locust, the consuming locust, and the chewing locust…You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God, Who has dealt wondrously with you; And My people shall never be put to shame. Then you shall know that I am in the midst of Israel: I am the Lord your God and there is no other. My people shall never be put to shame.”
Family, OVERFLOWING ABUNDANCE is how God wants us to live. When Randy and I were first married, we went to Niagra falls and as we saw the water cascading over the falls, I stood amazed and had this revelation: God wants us to experience this same kind of OVERFLOWING ABUNDANCE in our lives! We can actually experience OVERFLOW and enjoy the fullness of life greater than we have ever imagined. Jesus said in John 10:10,
- I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it OVERFLOWS).
Unfortunately, too many Christians are not enjoying the OVERFLOWING ABUNDANCE that this verse talks about. But what many Christians don’t understand is that it’s really up to them as to how much blessing they enjoy from God.
Some Christians are enjoying God’s abundance, but they’re not experiencing the OVERFLOWING ABUNDANCE that Jesus talks about.
Psalm 23:5 says,
- You prepare a table before me, even in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup OVERFLOWS.
Remember this, dear one, there’s never a shortage of God’s resources. There’s often more a shortage of faith on our part in understanding His goodness. To experience God’s goodness, we have to renew our minds and develop a mentality of abundance. Until we know it’s God’s will for us to live above life’s limits, we just won’t. Here are a few Scriptures that show us how God wants us to live:
- Psalm 23:1 – The Lord is my Shepherd, I lack nothing.
- Psalm 37:4 – Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.
- Deuteronomy 8:18 – Remember the Lord your God, for it is He Who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms His covenant.
- Proverbs 10:22 – The blessing of the Lord brings wealth, and He adds no trouble to it.
- Psalm 37:25 – I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen me the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread.
The more we study along these lines, the more we will know that God’s supply can never be exhausted. The more our faith is built up in this area, the more we’ll start talking ABUNDANCE and OVERFLOW!
So, I exhort you today to get your eyes off the limitations and onto the promises of God. Then, we’ll experience the OVERFLOWING ABUNDANCE that God wants all of His children to enjoy!
Our God is OVERFLOWING IN ABUNDANCE,
Lisa Gordon
