Good morning holy one!

Let’s ask ourselves this question?  How do we become holy?  When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we are made new in our spirits.  We become one with God, and because of Jesus, we have everything we need – wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption (1 Corinthians 1:30).  Without Jesus, we can’t be holy.  So, when we keep our eyes on Him instead of focusing on ourselves, we are transformed into Him image and likeness (Romans 12:2).   We become what we behold.

2 Corinthians 3:18 (AMPC) says,

  • And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit.

Holiness is thinking the way God thinks; it’s being of one mind with God.   When we think like God thinks, we’ll act like He acts.

Many Christians sin because they don’t believe they are really one with God.  1 Corinthians 6:17, 19-20 says,

  • But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him…Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?  For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

Family, holiness is in Christ Jesus.  Our new birth is a rebirth of our human spirits, not our souls or bodies. Our minds have to be renewed with the Word in order to line up with God.  Then, we need to discipline our bodies and train them to do what they should do (1 Corinthians 9:27).  That’s why I stress so emphatically THE WORD, THE WORD, THE WORD!  We must renew our minds to the Word of God!

See, holiness isn’t just a standard of conduct; it’s a person ~ Our Lord Jesus is holiness.  Actually, He’s everything to us.  We cannot be wise, righteous, sanctified or redeemed apart from Him.  In the same way, we can’t be holy without Jesus.

To be holy means to stand out and be separate from the world.  A person who is truly holy doesn’t blend in with the world.  We don’t want to blend ~ we actually want to be separate and different than the world in all our ways!

So, let’s decide today to focus on these four things:

  1. Spend time meditating on the fact that as a Christian you are one with God.
  2. Renew your mind with the Word of God (exchange your thoughts for His thoughts).
  3. Behold Jesus (beholding Jesus will position you to become what you focus on).
  4. You behold Jesus by staying focused on the Word of God.

Remember this, dear family, if we miss it, just acknowledge that you made a bad decision.  Then, thank God that you are forgiven because of 1 John 1:9 which says,

  • If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Then, ask Him to help you make the right decision next time.  You are dearly loved!

Praising God for His holiness,

Lisa Gordon
