Good morning vigilant ones!
1 Peter 5:8 says,
- Be sober; BE VIGILANT; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
I looked up the word, “VIGILANT” in the Strong’s Concordance and it means: To watch, to give strict attention to, to be active, to take heed, to keep awake.
See family, it’s essestial that you become extremely VIGILANT about what enters your mind on a daily basis. What you hear affects what you think and what you believe. That’s why Jesus said in Mark 4:24,
- Pay close attention to what you hear.
If you want to live a victorious life, then fill your ears with GOD’S WORD! Remember: Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the WORD OF GOD (Romans 10:17).
1 John 5:4 (ISV) says,
- Everyone who is born from God has overcome the world. Our faith is the victory that overcomes the world.
If you hear something enough, eventually, over time, it will form a belief and that belief will produce a corresponding action. Do you remember when James said in James 2:17 that faith without corresponding actions is dead? It’s our hearing and hearing again that is the impetus of our faith.
Also, 1 Corinthians 2:5 says that,
- Your faith should not be in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
We’re exhorted in Colossians 2:8 to,
- Beware! Lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.
It’s imperative that we walk according to the Spirit and not the flesh (Galatians 5:16) ~ that we BE VIGILANT in seeking first God’s kingdom and His righteousness. Remember that our adversary, the devil, walks about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. He can’t devour you as long as you are BEING VIGILANT to resist him, steadfast in the faith (1 Peter 5:9).
Remember to: Walk by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7) ~ Don’t be moved by circumstances. Romans 16:20 says,
- The God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly.
Staying strong in the Lord and in the power of His might,
