Good morning beloved!
In the book of first Peter, chapter 1, we see that the Jews were dispersed from Israel and living as strangers outside of their native country because of the persecution from following the Lord Jesus Christ.
Peter begins to exhort us in verse 3, reminding us that according to God’s vast mercy, we have been regenerated. He is birthing us again (first a natural birth, now a spiritual birth) into a living hope and expectation through the resurrection of Jesus from the dead.
Did you know that because for this, you were left an inheritance that is incorruptible, undefiled, and unfading? It is being kept for you in heaven (see verse 4). You are being guarded by God’s power (like a mama elephant guards her little one), so rejoice and exult about this, even though presently, you may be sorrowing because of various trials (see verses 5-6).
Are you aware of the truth that the trial of your faith, which is much more precious than gold that perishes, is being tested by fire, so that you may be found worthy to be applauded, honored, and glorified by the Lord Jesus Christ? (See verse 7).
I encourage you to place your faith and hope solely in God.
Romans 5:5 says,
- Hope does not disappoint because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit.
And remember, faith works by love (see Galatians 5:6).
So, rest in the LORD. Allow your heart to be glad, because in His presence is fullness of joy and at His right hand are pleasures forevermore (see Psalm 16:11).
He is my hope,
