Good morning beloved!
To TRUST means to depend or rely on confidently. At some point in our walk with Jesus, we need to decide whether we TRUST HIM or trust money. The Bible says we cannot have two masters, and choosing riches over God makes money our master. The Scriptures teach us in multiple places that God is the source of all wealth and riches, and all we need to do is TRUST and believe that this is the truth. True riches are found in heaven, not on earth.
Who or what do we believe is our true souce of wealth? The story of the poor wise man teaches us that the world puts more trust in money than in God (see Ecclesiastes 9:14-16). Money can bring power and authority, but we must remember its true source. Jesus Himself warned against trusting too much in money.
In Matthew 6:19-21 Jesus says this:
- Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.
Jesus illustrated this with the example of the rich young ruler. The young man refused to follow His advice because He trusted money more than God. Giving financially is a way to prove ourselves that we TRUST HIM more. If we know we can trust Him in the little things like money, we will know that we can TRUST HIM in the big things.
When we TRUST GOD, our actions will show it. Actions speak louder than words. James 2:26 says,
- For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
Learning to TRUST GOD starts with our finances. Jesus said that it is impossible for those who trust in riches to receive the things of God. It is like trying to fit a camel through the eye of a needle (see Mark 10:25-27). Conversely, TRUSTING IN HIM opens up all possibilities.
God has prepared wonderful things for those who love Him (see 1 Corinthians 2:9-10). If we truly love Him, then we will trust in His promises. If we put God first, He will be the source of all the riches we acquire. Deuteronomy 8:18 says,
- And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He Who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.
Family, God’s blessings are permanent. If we are born again and receive His blessings, they are irreversible. God’s favor in our lives cannot be stopped, as long as we do not stop believing in Him!
