Good morning dear ones!
As born-again believers under God’s new covenant, we now find our REST in Jesus, Who literally is the Word of God. When we say we are resting in Jesus, this means we find our confidence in, and rely on the entire Bible. We must recognize that Jesus is both a Person in the New Testament and the Word in the Old Testament. Because the Scripture declares in Romans 10:17 that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God, getting into God’s Word is the only way that Christians can live a life of true REST.
Hebrews 4:11 declares,
• Let us labor to ENTER INTO GOD’S REST, lest anyone fall after the example of unbelief.
“REST” does not mean inactivity. It is not a resting from work, it is resting in God while we are working. We can have such confidence and reliance on the Word that we are at peace knowing all is well! Real proof that we are resting in the Word is when we can refer to specific Scriptures and apply them to our current situation.
God has already given us everything we need in order to succeed and thrive. For us, this means that we have placed our full confidence in what Jesus did. Proverbs 10:22 says,
• The blessing of the Lord makes one rich, and He adds no sorrow with it.
God has designed us to operate out of rest, not out of stress or worry. We must learn to release our cares to God. When we do this, it demonstrates true humility. 1 Peter 5:6-7 says,
• Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, so that He may exalt you in due time, by casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
Give your troubles to God, because He cares about you. Also, Philippians 4:6-7 declares,
• Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be known to God, and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
In Matthew 6:27-29, Jesus pointed out to the people that worry and anxiety would not add anything to their lives. The flowers grow without toiling, but not even king Solomon was clothed like them.
Worry does not accomplish anything positive. When we choose not to worry, we will see manifestations and blessings in our lives.
Remember, the battle is the Lord’s and the victory is ours! (2 Chronicles 20:15).
