OUR COVENANT WITH GOD

Good morning COVENANT partners!

 

When we begin to understand OUR COVENANT WITH GOD,  no task or challenge will be impossible for us.  Just take a look at Abraham, the father of our faith - He ignored his natural weaknesses and instead, became fullypersuaded that what God had promised, He was also able to perform.  In the same way, we should not allow the appearance of situations and circumstances to discourage us!  Our hope must come from God's Word.

 

In Romans 4:18-21, God promised Abraham that he would be the father of many nations.  At the time, Abraham and Sarah were unable to conceive because they were beyond childbearing years, not to mention, that Sarah was barren all her life.

 

I want to encourage you today because no matter what you are going through, big or small, God's promises to us are always bigger than we can comprehend.

 

While Abram and Sarai waited, they lost hope and began making assumptions about how to bring GOD'S COVENANT promise to pass.  Sarai gave her maid, Hagar, to her husband in order to conceive a child.  Hagar became pregnant with Abraham's first born son, Ishmael.  Ishmael was not the child of promise.

 

For thirteen years, Abram heard nothing from God. However, God confirmed HIS COVENANT with Abram and changed his name to "Abraham", which means, "Father of many nations."  He also changed Sarai's name to "Sarah" and established that every male child should be circumcised.  Circumcision was a sign of the blood COVENANT.

 

In Galatians 3:16-17, we can see that God made the COVENANT with Abraham and his seed, Who is Jesus. Jesus sacrificed His life so that Gentiles (those who are not Jewish) become part of THE COVENANT - That is you and me! Hallelujah!

 

Remember this family:  Psalm 89:34 declares,

 

  • MY COVENANT I will not break, nor alter the word that has gone out of My lips.

 

You can rest your entire life upon God and His Word.  He is unchangeable.  What He says in His Word, He will do.

 

I want to conclude with this amazing and encouraging Scripture from Hebrews 6:13-19 (NLT),

 

  • For example, there was God’s promise to Abraham. Since there was no one greater to swear by, God took an oath in His own name, saying: “I will certainly bless you, and I will multiply your descendants beyond number.”  Then Abraham waited patiently, and he received what God had promised.  Now when people take an oath, they call on someone greater than themselves to hold them to it. And without any question that oath is binding.  God also bound Himself with an oath, so that those who received the promise could be perfectly sure that He would never change his mind.  So God has given both His promise and His oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to Him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls...
