PAUL’S PRAYERS – VHC NOTES 11/08/14

PRAYER 1 – EPHESIANS 1:15-23

15 Ever since I first heard of your **strong faith in the Lord Jesus**and **your love for God’s people everywhere**,

16 I have **not stopped thanking God for you**. **I pray for you constantly**, 17 asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to **give you** spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God.

18 I pray that your hearts will be **flooded with light** so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called…

19 I also pray that you will understand **the incredible greatness of God’s power**for us who believe him.

This is the same mighty power 20 that raised Christ from the dead…

PRAYER 2 – EPHESIANS 3:14-19

I fall to my knees and pray to **the Father**, 15 the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth, 16…that from his glorious, unlimited resources **he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit**,

17 [that] **Christ will make his home in your hearts** as you trust in him [by faith].

[That] your roots will grow down [deep] **into God’s love**, keeping you strong, 18 that **he may give you the power to understand…how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is**, 19 [and that] **you may experience [the fullness of] the love of Christ**, though it is too great to understand fully.

[I pray that] you will be **made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God**.

COLOSSIANS 1:9-14

9 We have **not stopped praying** for you since we first heard about you.

We ask God **to give you complete knowledge of his will**

and to **give you spiritual wisdom and understanding**,

10 and that **the way you live will always honor and please him**.

We pray that your lives will **produce every kind of good fruit**, and that you will grow as you you learn to know God better and better.

11 We also pray that you will **be strengthened with all of his glorious power** so you will have all the endurance and patience you need and that you **be filled with joy**, 12 **always thanking the Father**.

A PRAYER FOR MYSELF MADE FROM ALL OF PAUL’S PRAYERS

Father of my Lord Jesus, I ask that you would give me spiritual wisdom and insight so that I may grow in my knowledge of you. I pray that you would flood my heart with light so that I can understand the hope you have given to me. I also pray that you will make me understand the unlimited greatness of your power that is in me right now. This is the same mighty power, Father, that you used to raise Christ up from the dead.

Dear Father, you are the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. That’s why I pray to you, that you would empower me on the inside with your unlimited strength through your Holy Spirit, that The Lord Jesus would make his home in my heart as I trust in him by faith. And Father, cause my spiritual roots to grow down deep into your love, so that I’m kept strong by it. Give me the power to understand how wide, how long, how high, and how deep the love of Jesus Christ is. Make me experience that love in it’s fullness.

I love you, Father. Thank you for all you’ve given to me. AMEN.
