Hi glorious one!
I wanted to take a few moments and take a look at the difference between WALKING IN THE SPIRIT and WALKING IN THE FLESH!
Galatians 5:19-23 (LEV) gives us 2 lists explaining the difference:
- The works of the flesh are apparent and include adultery, fornication, homosexuality, intercourse with animals, impure living, defilement, filthiness, shamelessness, idoltry, sorcery, drugs, witchcraft, spells, hatred, strife, rivalry, envy, jealousy, fierce anger, self-seeking ambition, divisions, self-willed opinions leading to the formation of sects, murders, drunkenness, revelries and the like. I forewarn you now as I’ve forewarned you before, that the ones practicing or continually doing such things will not be heirs of the kingdom of God.
Whoa family! That list is literally from the greek! Paul is warning them not to continue walking and practicing these things.
Now, let’s see what it looks like to be led by the Holy Spirit as children of God:
- But the fruit of being led by the Holy Spirt is love (agape), brotherly affection, joyfulness (always rejoicing), peace, wholeness, the sense of rest and contentment, patience, endurance, constancy, perseverance, kindness, graciousness, tenderness, compassion, goodness, continuing faith, meekness, gentleness, self control, purposely putting the knowledge of God into practice.
In this person’s life, he is purposely putting the knowledge of God (from His Word) into practice, instead of putting the works of the flesh into practice.
We are to crucify our flesh with its passions and lusts.
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 lists these works of the flesh also, but Paul encourages us in verse 11 and says,
- And such were some of you, BUT you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the Name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
In Romans chapter 8, Paul talks a lot about the law of the Spirit of life and the law of sin and death. We are not condemned if we are walking according to the Spirit.
I know how much you love the Lord, so let’s ask God for His help so that we don’t walk according to the flesh, because Romans 8:8 says,
- Those who are walking according to the flesh cannot please God.
“We love you so much, Lord. Continue to teach us Your ways from your Word. We have been made alive by the Holy Spirit and desire to walk according to the Spirit, in Jesus Name, Amen.”
I love you and believe in you,
