BE OF ONE MIND

September 20, 2015

Good morning precious ones!

1 Peter 3:8-9 says,

  • 8 Finally, all of you BE OF ONE MIND, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous; 9 not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, blessing, knowing that YOU WERE CALLED TO THIS, that you may inherit a blessing.

If you want to know what you’ve been called to, this is it!

In our lives, our jobs, our ministries, we’re to be agreeable, sympathetic, loving, compassionate, and humble. The Scripture says, “that goes for all of you, no exceptions. No retaliation. No sharp-tongued sarcasm. Instead, bless—that’s your job, to bless. You’ll be a blessing and also get a blessing.”

Philippians 2:5 (NIV) says,

  • In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus. So, what was Jesus’ mindset?

Jesus’ mindset was to submit His will to do ONLY what the will of His Father was, even unto death on the cross.

Jesus lived a life totally dependent upon the Father, trusting the Father. This is the will of God for us ~ to learn to completely trust and obey Him in all things.

We are Jesus Christ’s expression of His life on the earth today. As vessels of the Lord Jesus Christ, we are to carry out God’s will.

So, what are we to think about, so we can BE OF ONE MIND?

Philippians 4:8-9 (Msg) says,

  • 8-9 Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized…

So, if it’s not a good report, don’t dwell on it. It will poison your spirit.

Look with me at Ephesians 4:17-24 (Msg),

  • 17-19 And so I insist—and God backs me up on this—that there be no going along with the crowd, the empty-headed, mindless crowd. They’ve refused for so long to deal with God that they’ve lost touch not only with God but with reality itself. They can’t think straight anymore. Feeling no pain, they let themselves go in sexual obsession, addicted to every sort of perversion. 20-24 But that’s no life for you. You learned Christ! My assumption is that you have paid careful attention to him, been well instructed in the truth precisely as we have it in Jesus. Since, then, we do not have the excuse of ignorance, everything—and I do mean everything—connected with that old way of life has to go. It’s rotten through and through. Get rid of it! And then take on an entirely new way of life—a God-fashioned life, a life renewed from the inside and working itself into your conduct as God accurately reproduces his character in you.

What I encourage you to do is get a little promises book (or if you want, you can look up God’s promises on line) and instead of thinking about the problem, think about the promises.

Study Psalm 91 ~ It’s full of promises for TODAY!

Did you know that there are over 6,000 promises in the Bible?  That’s why 2 Peter 1:3-4 says,

  • 3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, 4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious PROMISES, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

The LORD tells us in Isaiah 26:3,

  • If you will keep your mind fixed on Me, then I will keep you in perfect peace.

We’re told in Colossians 3:2 (NIV) to,

  • Set our minds on the things above, NOT on earthly things.

When we meditate on the promises of God, we’ll see our lives go to a whole new level.
When you get in agreement with God (Amos 3:3), you will always triumph.

Being of one mind,
