Hello glorious ones!

I want to encourage you today that the Bible isn’t just a history book filled with a collection of personal stories and facts.  The Bible is GOD’S LIVING WORD!  Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV) declares,

  • For THE WORD OF GOD IS LIVING and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

However, we must take God’s Word off the pages of the Bible and plant it in our hearts.  When do we, it’ll thrive and grow within us, producing a great harvest.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 states this:

  • Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, [and] for training in righteousness (in holy living, in conformity to God’s will in thought, purpose, and action), so that the man of God may be complete and proficient, well fitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Every Scripture is given by the inspiration of God.  People received the Word directly from Him and wrote it down.  So, why would God want His Word written in a book?  So we can know His commandments and keep them continually before us.  Jesus said if we love Him, we will keep His commandments (see John 14:21-24).  Our ultimate goal should be to conform into the image of Christ Jesus.  When we read and study God’s Word and the testimonies of those who wrote the Bible, we learn more about God’s character.

Jesus said in John 6:63 that the words He speaks are spirit and life.  His Word makes us spiritual.  Many Christians mislead others because they act spiritual.  Although we may behave in way that seems spiritual, nothing makes us spiritual expect knowing the Word of God and living according to Scripture.  Diligently and consistently studying the Word will cause it to live inside of you.  Then, when you know the turn, it’ll make you free (see John 8:31,21).

I encourage you to do what Psalm 119:105 says and allow the Word to be a “lamp” or a guide for your life.  God sends forth His Word to heal, save, and deliver us (see Psalm 107:20).

Thanking God for THE LIVING WORD,

Lisa Gordon
