Hello glorious ones!
1 John 1:7 says,
• But if we WALK IN THE LIGHT as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another (us and the Father), and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
Wow, family! Did you hear that promise? I believe the point here is: “IF WE…”
For some reason, some of the Christian church believes it is all up to God. They say, “Whatever God wills…”, not realizing that His Word IS His will. All we have to do is find out what God says to do and do it. That is His will for you!
John said, “IF WE WALK IN THE LIGHT AS HE IS IN THE LIGHT…” Notice the little word, “AS”. We should not make up our own ideas of what walking in the light is. What we need to do is find out how Jesus walked and walk the same way. The only way to do that is to read His Word and see how Jesus acted, how He spoke and what He did and did not do.
Image what His Body would look like if we were all WALKING IN THE LIGHT JUST AS HE IS IN THE LIGHT!
When we are WALKING IN THE LIGHT, we have true, unbroken fellowship with the Father, and the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin.
Verse 6 contrasts WALKING IN THE LIGHT with walking in darkness. This we do not want to do. The Scripture says,
• If we say we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.
Whew! Let us not be in that category!
Ephesians 5:8 says,
• For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), FINDING OUT what is acceptable to the Lord. And have NO FELLOWSHIP with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.
If we want to walk in true abundant life, full of favor, let us adhere to the Apostle John in 1 John 1:5. He says,
• This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that GOD IS LIGHT and in Him is no darkness at all.
Did you know that YOU ARE A CHOSEN GENERATION, A ROYAL PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION, God’s Own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him Who called you OUT OF DARKNESS into His marvelous LIGHT? (1 Peter 2:9).
Whoa, family! This is who you are! You are light in the Lord.
“So, how do we find this light?”, you may ask. Well, Psalm 27:1 says,
• The LORD is my LIGHT and my salvation…
Spend time with Him in worship, in prayer, and in His Word. HE IS YOUR LIGHT and light always exposes any darkness in us.
Every morning, I pray what the Psalmist prayed in Psalm 139:23-24,
• Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me and know my anxieties; and see if there is any WICKED (dark) way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
Did you know that according to Psalm 119:105, HIS WORD is a lamp to our feet and a LIGHT to our path?
Do not worry about trying to get the darkness out – Just expose yourself to His Word, to His Light, and IT will drive out the darkness. His Word washes us and cleanses us (Ephesians 5:26, 1 John 1:9).
Proverbs 29:13 says,
• THE LORD GIVES LIGHT.
Do not try to look for it anywhere else! There are no side effects with God! And remember what Jesus said in Matthew 5:14,
• YOU are the LIGHT of the world.
“Wow, me, Lord?” “Yes, YOU!!!”
Let us WALK IN THE LIGHT and save a dying world from eternal darkness.
“Father, I thank You that we are sons and daughters of LIGHT and sons and daughters of the day. We are not of the night nor of the darkness. You, Lord, are our LIGHT, so we come to You, so we can be filled with Your LIGHT. The LIGHT is sweet and it is pleasant for our eyes to behold the sun (Ecclesiastes 11:7). Father, we let our LIGHT so shine before men so that they may see our good works and glorify You in heaven, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
