Good morning defended ones!
Psalm 59:9,16,17 says,
- I will wait for You, O You his Strength; for GOD IS MY DEFENSE…I will sing of Your power; Yes, I will sing aloud of Your mercy in the morning; for YOU HAVE BEEN MY DEFENSE and refuge in the day of my trouble. To You, O my Strength, I will sing praises; for GOD IS MY DEFENSE, my God of mercy.
Three times in three verses we read, “GOD IS MY DEFENSE.”
“Defense against what?” you may ask. In Psalm 59, David says GOD IS MY DEFENSE against:
- The adversary (see yesterday’s daily word of encouragement entitled, “OUR ADVERSARY”).
- Those who rise up against us.
- The workers of iniquity.
- Bloodthirsty men.
- People who lie in wait for our lives.
- The mighty men who gather against you (they run and prepare themselves through no fault of yours)
- People’s mouths who lie against you and the cursing of their lips.
You may say, “None of these things apply to me!” Well, first of all, satan comes only to steal, kill and destroy God’s children. “How?” By breaking things that we own; by harming our children; by stealing our joy; by putting sickness and disease upon us or our loved ones, and the list goes on.
If you are living in this world, Jesus promises us in John 16:33,
- In this world, you will have tribulation, trials, distress and frustration. But, be of good cheer [take courage, be confident, certain and undaunted]. I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of its power to harm you and have conquered it for you].
I love what 1 John 5:4 says from the message bible,
- Every God-begotten person conquers the world’s ways ~ The conquering power that brings the world to its knees is our faith. The person who wins out over the world’s ways is simply the one who believes Jesus is the Son of God.
See, you don’t have to put up with the devil’s oppression any longer. God has empowered you with the anointing to remove burdens, destroy yokes and to be an overcomer (Isaiah 10:27). The devil is a burden that can easily be driven away by exercising your God-given authority, in Jesus’ Name.
God has given you His Word and His Spirit as a DEFENSE against the devil’s schemes. According to Ephesians 6:11, we are exhorted to:
- Put on the full armor of God [for His precepts are like the splendid armor of a heavily-armed soldier], so that you may be able to [successfully] stand up against all the schemes and the strategies and the deceits of the devil.
You have everything you need to defeat the devil whenever he shows up at your door. He will keep showing up because you possess something that he desperately wants ~ your God-given authority to rule and reign in the earth.
So, when you need God’s strength, remember GOD IS YOUR DEFENSE. He is your rock, your fortress, your refuge and your high tower; a very present help in time of trouble. Listen to Psalm 62:5-8,
- For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation; my fortress; I shall not be shaken. On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God. Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. Selah
I encourage you NOT TO FEAR, for it is the Lord your God who fights for you!
Let me pray this over you:
“Father, thank You that YOU ARE ALWAYS OUR DEFENSE. You, Lord are a man of war (Exodus 15:3). From Your mouth comes a sharp two-edged sword. We honor You in our hearts. We are not dismayed because You are our God; You will strengthen us, help us and uphold us with Your righteous right hand. You are our strength and our song, and You have become our salvation. We trust You with all our hearts. Under your wings we find reguge. You are our shield and buckler. Thank You for rescuing us speedily! We wait with expectation for Your deliverance. We take courage. You are our light and our salvation; whom shall we fear? You are the stronghold of our lives; of whom shall we be afraid? Through war arise against us, we will be confident that YOU ARE OUR DEFENSE. We praise You forevermore, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
God is my defense,
