Good morning followers of the Lord Jesus Christ!

Deuteronomy 16:20 says,

  • You shall FOLLOW what is altogether just…

Now, here are a few things the LORD says we should do.  It’s from Zechariah 8:16-17,

  1. Speak each man TRUTH to his neighbor (see John 17:17)
  2. Give judgment in your gates for truth, JUSTICE, and peace (see Isaish 61:8)
  3. Let none of you think evil in your heart against your neighbor (see 1 Corinthians 13:5)
  4. Do not love a false oath (see Exodus 20:16)

Now that we’ve seen some Scriptures on WHAT to follow, let’s take a look at WHO to follow.

In Matthew 4:18-22, it says,

  • And Jesus, walking by the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew His brother casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.  Then He said to them, “FOLLOW ME, and I will make you fishers of men.”  They IMMEDIATELY LEFT THEIR NETS AND FOLLOWED HIM.  Going on from there, He saw two other brothers, James, the son on Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets.  He called them, and IMMEDIATELY THEY LEFT THE BOAT AND THEIR FATHER, AND FOLLOWED HIM.

What I think is amazing here is when Jesus called them (just like He’s called you), they IMMEDIATELY LEFT WHAT THEY WERE DOING AND FOLLOWED HIM.To conclude, Jesus tells us an amazing thing about FOLLOWING HIM AND BEING HIS DISCIPLE.  It’s from Luke 14:26-33, 35

  • If ANYONE comes to Me, and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he CANNOT be My disciple.  And WHOEVER does not bear his cross and come after Me CANNOT be My disciple.  For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and COUNT THE COST, whether he has enough to finish it – lest, after he had laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, “This man began to build and was not able to finish?”  Or, what king, does not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand?  Or else, while the other is still a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks conditions of peace.  So, likewise, WHOEVER OF YOU DOES NOT FORSAKE ALL THAT HE HAS CANNOT BE MY DISCIPLE…”He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”

Family, let’s do what Jesus tells us to do.  That’s what being a FOLLOWER OF HIM is all about!

You are greatly loved,

Lisa Gordon
